Bollard Installation in Miami, Protect Storefronts, Pedestrians & Property
Bollards are the short, heavy posts that stop vehicles where they shouldn’t go: in front of storefront glass, along pedestrian walkways, around fuel pumps and utilities, at building entrances, and in parking lots. South Florida Fabrication & Fencing fabricates and installs steel, stainless, and decorative bollards for commercial, municipal, and residential properties throughout Miami-Dade, from a single post protecting a gas meter to a full row securing a retail entrance.
As a metal fabrication shop, we build and install bollards to the protection level you actually need, set them in properly engineered footings, and finish them to look right on your property.
Types of Bollards We Install
- Steel pipe bollards, concrete-filled steel posts set in deep footings; the standard for storefront and vehicle-impact protection
- Decorative bollards, cast or fabricated designs, and sleeved covers that dress up a steel core to match your building
- Stainless steel bollards, clean, modern, and corrosion-resistant for coastal and high-visibility locations
- Removable & retractable bollards, locking, lift-out, or telescoping posts where occasional vehicle access is needed
- Flexible / traffic bollards, for lane delineation and low-speed guidance where impact protection isn’t the goal
- Lighted bollards, pathway and entrance lighting combined with protection
- Bike rack & safety bollards, combination units for pedestrian areas
Where Bollards Are Used in Miami
- Retail storefronts & shopping centers, preventing “storefront crashes” from parking lot vehicles
- Restaurants & outdoor dining, protecting sidewalk seating from traffic
- Gas stations & utilities, shielding pumps, meters, transformers, and hydrants
- Warehouses & loading docks, guarding door frames, columns, and equipment from forklifts and trucks
- Schools, churches & public buildings, protecting entrances and pedestrian zones
- Parking garages & lots, controlling vehicle movement and protecting structures
- Residential driveways, decorative or security bollards at entrances
Installation That Actually Stops a Vehicle
A bollard is only as good as its footing. A post set in a shallow hole will fold on impact. We install steel bollards in properly sized, reinforced concrete footings, depth and diameter matched to the bollard and the level of protection required, and fill steel posts with concrete for rigidity. For high-security or crash-rated applications we can fabricate and install to specified performance standards. Decorative sleeves and finishes are added after the structural work is done, so the bollard protects first and looks good second.
Bollards as Part of a Complete Site Package
Bollards often go in alongside other work: commercial perimeter fencing, access gates, handrails and guardrails, and dumpster or equipment enclosures from our fabrication shop. We can handle the whole scope so you’re coordinating one contractor.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far apart should bollards be spaced?
To block vehicles while allowing pedestrians and wheelchairs to pass, bollards are commonly spaced around 4–5 feet apart. We’ll set spacing based on your site, accessibility needs, and what you’re protecting.
Do bollards require a permit in Miami-Dade?
It depends on location and scope; bollards in the public right-of-way or as part of a larger site project often do. We’ll confirm and handle it.
Can you match bollards to my building’s look?
Yes, decorative sleeves, powder-coat colors, stainless finishes, and custom fabricated designs let bollards blend with your architecture.
